About Me

Having spent 10 yrs working for recyling companies in Bahrain my first year in Bahrain has been spent trying to get environmental initiatives off  the ground. After 14 months BAPCO finally managed to get 3 sets fo recyling for charity bins into awali and 6 months after that they produced 400 pieces of paper to tell the residents about the bins. I still have to weekely collect compost from our so called Environmental park and put them in my compost to stop them going to landfill and the bottle tops that were supposed to be collected from the environmental walk were found in a bag in a bin going to landfill . We now have green bins for my ILM courses, which I had to buy myself after asking for them for 6 months and we are collecting bottle tops to get recyled for wheelchairs for the disabled. Meanwhile at the refinery rubish is left strewn all over the car park below the noticeboard which daily proclaims what an environmentally friendly compnay we are. Sometimes I wonder why I bother!!

About Me

I love recycling! I have wanted to promote it here in Bahrain for a very long time. I started of course from home, went through the yellow pages got a no. of a recycling company where they actually came to the house to collect the stuff! This was a blessing.

We would stack up papers, magazines; cartons etc for a couple of weeks and then call them up to collect it. This went on for a while, till they got LAZY! They dint want to show up anymore and complained that we are giving them all sorts of garbage!!  This was not the case!

Anyhow before I could start hunting for an alternative, luckily I saw these two recycling containers outside Zendo (where I go for kickboxing) So I started taking the bags for recycling there.

It is through Zendo that I found out about Jameela and her website and I got so excited about it and immediately signed up!

I think it?s GREAT what Jameela has started! And I want to do whatever I can to help!

Hope we can create more awareness and help our environment.

About Me

Taking responsibility seriously is what I strongly believe in. I have over 14 years experience in Internal Audit, my attention to detail and to complying with regulations that affect the well-being of a corporation, society and country is of paramount importance to me.

I have come to this site looking for the proper way to dispose of a blackberry battery, and here I am, searching if there is a harzardous waste management site in Bahrain that collects material that fall under this category. Unfortunately, I discovered that we do not have such a site, but I hope that, by documenting my concern, we will soon have one.
