About Me

Having spent 10 yrs working for recyling companies in Bahrain my first year in Bahrain has been spent trying to get environmental initiatives off  the ground. After 14 months BAPCO finally managed to get 3 sets fo recyling for charity bins into awali and 6 months after that they produced 400 pieces of paper to tell the residents about the bins. I still have to weekely collect compost from our so called Environmental park and put them in my compost to stop them going to landfill and the bottle tops that were supposed to be collected from the environmental walk were found in a bag in a bin going to landfill . We now have green bins for my ILM courses, which I had to buy myself after asking for them for 6 months and we are collecting bottle tops to get recyled for wheelchairs for the disabled. Meanwhile at the refinery rubish is left strewn all over the car park below the noticeboard which daily proclaims what an environmentally friendly compnay we are. Sometimes I wonder why I bother!!

About Me

Moved to Bahrain from Australia with my husband on the 28th July 09, so very new to the Island. Mother of a 19 yr old daughter, who is  about to embark on University studies back in Australia.

I am a keen recycler, and have been recycling in Australia for many years. I brought my own shopping bags from Australia so that I didnt need to use plastic ones. I am keen to get back into recycling now that I am living in Bahrain... just cant stand the waste and cant wait to go to my first drop off point...
